Abstract

The research has the objective to analyze the conflict about control of the Falklands islands between Argentina and United Kingdom using geographic and geopolitical perspective relating to natural resources. The impact of this conflict in the North/South is very important, an example is the union between the U.S. with the UK during the war in 1982, making this teritorial dispute about territorial dispute over particular issues of the alliance and hegemony in South America. The economic crisis of 2008 produced a particular context for the global economy and therefore the exploration of oil became more important, not only as a basis energy source, but also for a country's economic structure and development perspective, this is the central question of this research. In this sense, the project is structured around a historical analysis of the conflict and the possible consequences of oil exploitation in the region. These consequences can determine the economic relations of these countries, since the balance of payment between the UK and Argentina is important to the Anglo-Argentine geopolitical future.
