Abstract

This research project aims to analyze the levels of hope and quality of life in a sample of 60 elderly individuals (in the range of 45 to 65 years/old), users of digital media / platforms who relate to same-sex people. This is a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional nationwide subsidized by the range of digital media / platforms, which are stratified by location (cities, regions and states). The tools provided for the data collection are: the Herth Hope Scale (EEH) and WHOQOL. Both nationally validated and with comprehensive academic-scientific utilization. The total sample in the study (n = 60) will be divided in two groups of 30 people. In the first group will be the aging subjects who relate to people of the same sex in a visible manner (open to society). In the second group, on the other hand, will be present aging subjects that at maturity began to relate to people of the same sex, but that do not keep the homosexual category visible / public. Both groups make use of the digital media / platforms as a means to find partners and to "visualize" sexuality offline / private. The research project was approved by the Ethics Committee of the University Federal of Sao Carlos (Notion number 300.177/2013). The results will be analyzed using the Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS) to perform statistical analysis (descriptive, Chi-Square Test, Test of Pearson, Test of Mann-Whitney and Correlation Analysis of Spearman). The results will bring innovative reflections on social, psychological and subjective dimensions from aging individuals who relate to same-sex people.
