Abstract

This research project aims at the development of experimental synthesis of gold nanoparticles using the method of chemical reduction, framed as green synthesis, using the natural rubber latex as a natural compound, acting as a reducing agent. The solution of gold chloride latex will be monitored, following the reduction process of the nanoparticles as a function of parameters such as temperature, pH, concentration of latex solution (reagent), among others. At first, this solution will be characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy, infrared (FT-IR ATR mode) and electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Other techniques could be used to complement compound and nanoparticles studies, as thermal analysis (TG/DSC and FT-IR) to identify thermal stability and degradation process, as well as phase transitions in the presence of latex nanoparticles and structural modifications measured by micro-Raman spectroscopy. According to the results an orientation will be given, for potential applications in biomedical field, detection of chemical/biological agents and bioengineering. This procedure also aims at the total elimination, or at least minimization, of waste generated through basic principles toward the concepts of environmental and economic sustainability. (AU)
