Abstract

The textile industry in Brazil has a prominent place, because it presents significant economic and social value, but is among the leading industries generate wastewater with high pollution potential. These effluents contain high organic load, high color and toxic to humans and the environment chemicals. Among these synthetic chemicals have dyes that resist different treatments and that when present in the environment have high persistence. And how environmental laws are becoming more stringent time technologies for the treatment of colored effluents is of utmost importance. Among these systems have microbiological treatments and advanced oxidation processes, which are able to turn persistent and difficult to degrade substances in ecologically harmless and biologically degradable substances. In the search for alternative treatments, the present work aims to study the advanced treatments of biological and oxidative discoloration of textile azo dyes Acid Blue 161 and Procion Red MX-5B in simple solution and associates in binary solution. Microbiological biosorption and biodegradation treatments will be performed from a microbial consortium of filamentous fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus terreus. While the advanced oxidation processes will be conducted via electrochemical and photoelectrochemical degradation. The study also intends to involve the discoloration treatments aimed at complete mineralization of dyes, where oxidative pre-treatments will be performed, and subsequently the microbiological treatments. The toxicity of the solutions will be analyzed before and after the treatments, where acute toxicity shall be assessed using a test system consisting of vegetable seeds of Lactuca sativa.
