Abstract

The subtribe Synallaxina gathers about 60 taxa and eight genera belonging to the Furnariidae (Passeriformes: Aves), including genus Synallaxis, its largest and most widely distributed genus. The aim of this study is to review the taxonomy of the subtribo Synallaxina. There will be examined about five thousand specimens, housed at 27 scientific collections. The color patterns found will be mapped and morphometric data will receive statistical treatment. With the completion of this study, in addition to the nomenclatural aspects, different patterns of variation, both geographic and individual, will be better understood for the group. (AU)
