Abstract

The intestinal inflamatory bowel diseases are a group of heterogeneous disorders which afect million people worldwide. Several immune factors have been described in many studies, involving innate and adaptive immune systems, and the influence of intestinal microbiota during the inflammation process. The diet is an important factor that can alter the microbial composition, which viable nutrients favours the development of some species. The genus Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium are good for their host and its population increase with diet containing prebiotics, such as oligofrutose. In this context, dendritic cells in the intestinal lamina propria must be evaluated because its pivotal role in initiation and interaction between innate and adaptive immune response. However, the dendritic cells subtypes involved in the intestinal inflammatory diseases and the molecular mechanisms associated with the modulation of microbiota composition were not described. Our study aims to investigate the influence of intestinal microbiota modified by prebiotics consumption and its influence into immune response by dendritic cells in acute ulcerative colitis model. These goals intended to respond our hypothesis which microbiota composition would have influence into dendritic cells subtypes and, by this way, the immune response to take more aggressive or more attenuated profiles. We will focus in the signaling pathways where dendritic cells could be activated by modifications in microbiota, in special mTOR pathway. We expect to generate innovative knowledge data that can add to current literature and may improve therapies for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. (AU)
