Abstract

Introduction: Previous studies (FAPESP process n. 2011/13709-2, Cintra et al., 2013, 2014ab) indicated damage to pulp cells, as well as the process of repair of these, after suffering an oxidative stress due to the presence of bleaching agents on the surface tooth. Objective: To further study the mechanisms involved in the cellular response to understanding the pulp changes resulting from the application of two protocols of dental based Hydrogen Peroxide (HP) bleaching. Methods: Will be used 40 rats Wistar divided into 2 experimental groups: BLUE (PH 20%, 1x45min) and MAXX (PH 35% 3x15mim). Be whitened upper molars of each animal with one of the protocols and other untreated molars are used for control. After 2 and 30 days, the animals are sacrificed and the jaws removed and processed for Histological Evaluation laboratory (HE) and immunohistochemistry (Caspase - 3 - activated, PCNA and CD5). Method of analysis: The tissue sections stained with HE will be evaluated by pre-established criteria by assigning scores to microscopic events and results will be analyzed statistically by the Kruskal Wallis and Dunn tests (p < 0.05). The values of Caspase - 3 - activated, PCNA and CD5 obtained will be subjected to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests to define the statistical test to be used (p<0.05). (AU)
