Abstract

This project aims to analyze the trajectory of ideas and concepts of Archaeological Conservation in the Jesuit-Guarani Missions, located in southern Brazil, and in Mértola, in Portugal. The analysis is particularly focused on the period between 1970 and 1990, characterized by the end of authoritarian regimes and democraticopening in both countries. From the results of several excavations, observing thehistorical construction of legal normative and techniques related to cultural heritage,we will analyze the trajectory of the discourse on the role of archaeological science. Finally, we will be observe the networks established within the different politicalsystems prevailing at the time, regarding their archaeological production as a way toestablish the similarities and differences between these two contexts.
