Abstract

Has been reported in literature the association between alcohol consumption and symptoms of depression and hopelessness in pregnant women. Understanding the behavioral patterns of alcohol consumption and knowledge of the effects of alcohol use in pregnancy outcomes require specific studies, because the woman's choice to drink during pregnancy is a socially and culturally determined behavior. This paper shows the study "Prevalence of alcohol use and its association with anxiety, depression and hopelessness in high risk pregnancies" . For this study the specific aims are assess patterns of alcohol use among pregnant women and investigate the presence of depression and hopelessness. In this study, the sample consists of 60 women who are waiting in the outpatient clinic of the Division of Obstetric tertiary University Hospital. The patients who find waiting prenatal consult in the Obstetric Clinic of the Central Institute of the Clinical Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, USP will be invited to participate in the study. Initially will read the term consent, after acceptance to participate in the study, expressed by the signature of the term, will perform the following: interview, and then asked the woman responds to the following instruments: Alcohol use disorders identification test - Consumption questions (AUDIT-10), and the MINI INTERNATIONAL NEUROPSYCHIATRIC INTERVIEW. Results are presented using descriptive statistics: mean, standard deviation and frequency simple.
