Abstract

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory disease of the peripheral nervous system, with considerable mortality. The experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN)is the experimental model of the GBS, which culminates in the demyelination of the peripheral nerves. This response is mediated by Th1 / Th17 speacially. Despite, it is still to be elucidated how T cells would be capable to start the inflammatory process Preliminary results of our group show that activated neuritogenic TCD4 lymphocytes acquire a cytotoxic phenotype and express high levels of granzyme B. Thus, in this propose, we intend to evaluate whether those TCD4 lymphocytes infiltrated into the perpheral nerves could also act over Schwann cells.
