Abstract

Previous studies from our research group showed that hair care is paramount to the quality of life and well being of women, since hair has a significant role in the body image of women. Although there are few multifunctional products, the panelists of the study reported not find products on the market that fully meet their needs. Thus, they combine the use of various products and other types of treatment trying to get the right end result, being reported that more than half of women makes use of chemical and physical treatments that cause damage to the hair fiber. Given this growing interest and consumption, there is an increasing interest in research on characterization, damage assessment and development of formulations for hair care. Several ingredients have been used for hair cosmetics such as amino acids, ceramides, sunscreens, thermal protector, plant extracts and silicones, for different purposes, such as repairing and protecting daily damage to the hair fiber. In this context, the combination of these ingredients is expected to obtain a multifunctional formulation with demonstrated efficacy, proposed as a capillary BB cream for the prevention and treatment of physical and chemical damage that hair suffers daily. The BB Hair Beauty Balm proposed in this study aims to attend with effectiveness and practicality the needs of the Brazilian consumer.
