Abstract

Delaminated catalysts are widely used in reactions involving bulky molecules, because their improved accessibility and acid sites more available. Meanwhile, the conventional method for obtaining these materials involves two steps: expansion and exfoliation. These steps becomes complex and disadvantageous method in relation to the final catalyst, as severe desilication, loss of acid sites and low yield. This project proposes to develop a new method for obtaining materials with higher specific surface area and porosity without disadvantages generated by conventional method. The proposal is the synthesis of zeolites by emulsion in the presence of organosilanes and paraffins, so it is expected an one-step method. Lamellar and zeolitic catalysts modified with micro-and mesopores were studied in GPCat (Grupo de Pesquisa em Catálise - UNESP) in the dehydration of glycerol and the results highlight the importance of accessibility and acidity in this catalytic reaction. The delaminated zeolite ITQ-2 showed better conversion despite the loss in acidity and desilication due to the synthesis method. Thus, there is a motivation to develop a catalyst with high acidity that demonstrate unique properties in their catalytic applications. The lamellar zeolite MWW and FER are most useful in the context of 2D zeolites with outstanding catalytic performance in comparison to purely microporous, thus layered materials will investigate in this proposal. Some structural and surface characterizations will use to understand the mechanisms and assessing the performance of catalysts, applying a wide range of experimental techniques. The performance of materials as acid catalyst and support will test in the isomerization of n-hexane, model reaction in order to produce isoparaffin needed in increasing octane gasoline. The materials will impregnate with platinum, a metal widely used in this reaction, understanding the mechanisms and use the material as a support. (AU)
