Abstract

The Sino-US relations are, perhaps, the most important set of relations in the near future. They will tend to shape international relations in the coming decades and almost all other sets of relations will can maybe considered beneath the perspective of Sino-American framework. The East Asia, under the impact of China's rise at the region, is a stage of dispute in relations between the two countries in the new century. Currently China is seen as a regional power and has exercised such influence on the international scenario that it has even been the target of speculation about possible attempts to become a hegemonic world power, replacing the United States, this fact is refuted by the Chinese leadership. Aiming to create a stable environment for its development project, China launched the strategy of "peaceful development". In counterpart, the United States has been repositioning itself in the international order prioritizing the region of greatest growth potential on the globe, particularly in the context that China assumes greater prominence, the Asia-Pacific. Therefore the release of "America's Pacific Century" strategy. It is the clash between two strategies the central point of our thesis. (AU)
