Abstract

In this study we want to analyze the effect of the teacher training quality on the educational life of students. Using data from the Censo Escolar and Prova Brasil, plus indicators of the Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Superior (SINAES), we propose a quantitative measure to assess the quality of teacher training. The idea is to use as a measure of the teachers training quality, the quality of the course or the institution that he graduated, according to the indicators of SINAES. Thus, the goal is to aggregate this measure for school and relate it to the performance of students from each school in Prova Brasil. As a result of this analysis, we can check whether there is (or not) a relationship between the proposed measure of teacher quality and school life of students. The goal is to apply the procedures proposed in this study for elementary schools, linking our measure of quality performance of 5th and 9th grades who are participating in the Test from Prova Brasil.
