Abstract

Ambulatory electrocardiographic monitoring, or Holter method, has been showing as an effective tool in veterinary medicine to detect early cardiac lesions, not only by the electrical activity of the heart, but also by the autonomic control of this organ. It is also known that frequent infectious diseases in dogs, such as canine distemper and monocytic ehrliquiosis cause considerable injury to the heart, proven by histopathological examination. The present study is therefore intended to describe more accurately the cardiovascular parameters comports, focusing on electrical activity of the heart and the heart rate variability and in dosage of cardiac biomarkers during the chronic phase of this illness at two different times (before and after treatment with doxycycline).
