Abstract

The project aims to broaden the discussion in the school environment, and investigate how the extension activities have ensured that the youth of the public schools are able to practice their skills and abilities. From the idea / concept that television is where three important processes are joined: technological, institutional and cultural, the relevance of this research is due to the importance of recovering and discussing the role of television in consumer society and its relation with multimedia processes within the public school. It has the goal of establishing a discussion in the field of audiovisual content production from the experience of the extension project "The School on the TV screen," which is being held in the Public School Jesuíno Arruda in the city of São Carlos. In addition, the study will bring to the academic environment an important contribution regarding the role played by television and video, and its relation to elementary education (second and third cycles) which work with an age group including pre-adolescence and adolescent phase where the students are living their self-assertion. The research also brings embedded the expectation of generating a method capable of adding to the experimentalism of fictional serial productions, an approximation of audiovisual practice, demystifying its modus operandi. When performed in the fictional environment, content and themes that approximate the youth to their social reality, students create through verisimilitude an identification, which results in a legitimate and unique audiovisual product. The research project comes from the study and technique of the vehicle in its modus operandi, through the works of Sergio Mattos, Raymond Williams, and understanding of the message, with support from the works of Karl Popper, Jesús Martín-Barbero and Joan Ferres.
