Abstract

The purpose of the research is to investigate the connections and contacts established between Portuguese and Brazilian intellectuals, notably Catholics, during the 1920s and 1930s study aims to understand how processed in the field of school education scientific and scholarly dialogue among these thinkers two countries, considering the production, circulation of educational and cultural ideas and discussions around projects related to education policy. The chronological cut refers to the intense scientific and ideological debate that marked the two nations in that context: on one hand, the movement called Lusitanian fundamentalism; another, the nationalism of Catholic base, defended by church-related groups in Brazil. Part from the assumption that the two perspectives expressed ideologically and politically strategic approaches and internal differences caused by the complex network of common interests and projects or contradictory, considering the rich debate that marked those decades in both countries, a scenario that the research intends to map and analyze.
