Abstract

This Project has as main objective to study the contemporary literature in Portuguese language, in Macao, that is, from 1990, near the date around the transference of the administrative sovereignty of the region for the People's Republic of China, till nowadays. The research intends to continue the studies previously accomplished, that had given as resulted the thesis of doutorado and the book Margins of the destiny: Macao and the literature of Portuguese language (2007). For the previous study, it was definite the period of literary's texts between 1887 (date of the Declaration of Friendship and Trade Comerce between Portugal and China) and 1987 (the date of the return of sovereignt). The current project goes to privilege a verification of the entailed conditions of literature that involves Portuguese presence in the region, conditions that is about production, critic and reception, in its relations with the cultural studies, other intelectual discourses and artistic forms manifested by chinese and anglo-saxon cultures in the period after the previous one. To interview writers, agents and editors ; to collect literary compositions and critical texts which restricted circulates, and access local archives; to contact professors of literature, students and journalists, and to visit Centers of Portuguese Studies in the south region of the People's Republic of China compose the main actions to be developed during this research. The analysis of the literary material goes to be centered in the related questions of identity definitions; relating writing and space, with the aim of establishing a thematic foccus that brings plausibility to the proposed cronograma.
