Abstract

The production of Orange is the third largest agricultural activity in the state of São Paulo, which has been facing phytosanitary problems and a lot of orchards is being eradicated. However, producers have no guidance on how to use this biomass in the best way, because there are no studies about the chemical potential of orange wood. Analysis of the percentage of wood extractives have already been implemented and proved to be expressive. Another chemical recovery is the use of condensable gases obtained from pyrolysis process. Both should have their product analyzed in relation to existing chemical compounds, so the potential of the application in large scale can be detected. Therefore, this study aims to identify the chemical compounds of the extractives and also the condensable gases of pyrolysis through the gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC/MS), a sophisticated and widely technique used for the determination of various substances.
