Abstract

The broadband reflectance (BR) is an important diagnostic procedure that is able to assess more accurately the degree of impairment of the middle ear and may explain variations in how the middle ear receives, absorbs and transmits sound energy. Objective: To compare the acoustic reflectance measures of the middle ear to the absorbance measures, both obtained from adults with no hearing complaints. Method: This study will consist of 20 participants without hearing complaints and disorders. For this research will be utilized: GSI 61 Grason Stadler for conventional audiometry; MEPA3 - Middle- Ear Power Analysis - Mimosa for obtaining reflectance measures; and TITAN - Interacoustics for the acoustic reflex research and obtainment of tympanometry and acoustic absorbance measures. Results: The test results will be utilized as variables for the study, being submitted to statistical analysis for correlation between procedures in the individuals of the group.
