Abstract

INTRODUCTION: The symptoms presented by the elderly in acute myocardial infarction are atypical. The ready recognition of these symptoms assists the health professional, more specifically the nurse, to carry out an acurate screening and forward quickly and properly the patient to the correct treatment.Despite it is known that these symptoms are atypical, it is not known which of them are more frequent and which can help nurses to recognize more quickly the illness.OBJECTIVE: To Identify what is the frequency and clinical characteristics of the anginal pain in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction, according to gender and age. METHODS: A secondary study will be carried out through the analysis of medical records belonging to elderly patients with AMI, brought in an emergency room of a large hospital in Sao Paulo, in the year 2014. Sociodemographic and clinical variables will be extracted from the medical records. Data will be analyzed by means of descriptive and analytical statistics. Additionally to central tendency measures, parametric and non-parametric tests determined by variables and correlations required wil be used. It will be considered statistically significant p-values of 0.05. For the analysis, will be used the SPSS Software in its 21th version.
