Abstract

This project is related to the FAPESP process nº 2012/06600-7 and proposes the development of anaerobic cultivation methodology for microorganisms from metal contaminated sites in order to develop new bioremediation processes. The steps proposed here involves anexchange period in the University of Toronto, Canada, in Prof. Elizabeth Edwards' research group which isone of the most recognized groups in developing methods for bioremediation using anaerobic techniques. This knowledge will be applied to the PhD student's project and will represent a significant increase in knowledge both for the student and for the Brazilian research team. (AU)
