Abstract

Sport, as a phenomenon that reproduces social tensions, increasingly reveals itself as stage for the thematization of ethnic and racial issues, as well as the psychological implications of its dynamics in a professional context. However, despite considerable production in the football area, the approach taken in other countries and the social psychology tradition, still lacks on the Psychology of Sport in Brazil an approach to the theme of racial relations. The aim of this research is to investigate the work of sports psychologists on the theme of racial relations. Thus, the research "theme-field" will consist of analysis of written material produced on the internet, narratives disseminated in sports programs and the construction of a field notebook, as well as interviews with at least eight sports psychologists in different sports. The sports will be set based on an analysis of circulating narratives concerning ethnic and racial issues, ethnic-racial quantitative predominance of their athletes and their collective or individual characteristic. The concepts of race/ethnicity, gender, prejudice, discrimination, racism and racialism will be fundamental to interpellate the results as well as the analysis of power relations focused on the bodies of sports players.
