Abstract

Notably broadcasted by the foreign media, the figurativization of the form of life of the actor "house husband" begins to be thought in Brazil, in the journalistic sphere, in the advertising sphere as well as in the artistic-literary one, sometimes in a shy and conservative manner, sometimes in a liberating way. This sense, based on key-concepts derived both from greimasian semiotics and from the recent sociossemiotic studies that investigate the social interactions and the collective human formation, our aim is to analyze texts in which the actor "house husband" is configurated. Justifying the project, the questioning about the (cultural) delimitation of space engendered by genders: if women has conquered the space previously defined as men's exclusivity (the public space), why couldn't men aim at conquering the space so defined as women's exclusivity (the domestic space)? How would the media and/or the literature approach this possible "new familiar reality?" Would there be space for the configuration of this form of life in the Brazilian culture? Facing these questions, we put ourselves the task of analyzing interviews, advertisement ads, literary chronicles, self-help books - a certainly profitable material in these times in which the semiotic theory begins to explore wide discursive universes, applying itself to media and other sociocultural phenomena associated with social communication (PORTELA, 2008, p. 95). Furthermore, our corpus put us in contact with a beau geste (GREIMAS, 1993, p. 33-34) or, in other words, the proposal of a new individual ethic, of a universe of values opened onto a multitude of undetermined possibilities, opening ways to the study of the collective identity formation and allowing us to contribute to the development of semiotics of culture.
