Abstract

During this fellowship in the United States at Brown University, we intend to research at John Carter Brown Library (JCB) as well as in other American archives and libraries. In our investigation, we will map the connections among prophetical hopes and expectations within Fifth Monarchy projects in the 17th Century Europe and Americas. Therefore, we will seek the links among millenarian groups and movements in the Portuguese and English Empires which had the Netherlands and, in particular, Amsterdam Sephardic community as a common information hub. The residence at Brown, in the History Department as well as in JCB, also represents a huge opportunity for academic interchange with Brown faculty and fellows, and furthermore it will allows an important bibliographic updating.
