Abstract

This research aims to investigate the statute of image in the philosophical thought of Albert Camus. For the author, the image provides the occasion for reflection and does not separate from it, once the thought by images is configured as a more integral thought, operating in the crossing of sensory experience with philosophical reflection. Thus, the hypothesis of this research is that Camus suggests the philosophy of his time to think about the human condition from the dilution of boundaries between philosophical text and the literary narrative, proposing the philosopher a refusal to the mere construction of conceptual systems that, ultimately, separate thought and experience. For Camus, such philosophy would be configured through the image, leading to a constant reflection on the absurdity of human existence. (AU)
