Abstract Accessing audiovisual productions made in other countries is turning into an easier activity to be done. Thanks to the Internet and globalization anybody around the world can discover and watch many kinds of production from many countries, giving to them the opportunity to meet and appreciate these materials. That is the case of the Asiatic doramas, whose format is similar to the American series, for example. Most part of the consumption of these doramas (mostly Japanese and South Korean) takes place on the Internet thanks to the work of fansubs, which translate and put subtitles on these videos; that's a work made by fans to the fans. The doramas show countless representations of cultural elements of their own society. Different ways of organization and thinking may be some of the reasons of catching the attention and curiosity of the fans who live outside the Asiatic continent. These fans start to familiarize and even to identify with the customs and values of that culture. In the doramas context, the music is also an important element that walks along with these productions and attracts the consumption of the doramas. Artists, especially Japanese and South Korean, who sing frequently act on the doramas and also participate on the soundtrack of them, generating benefits to both phonographic and audiovisual industries and contributing to increase the number of the fans. This research project relative to the BEPE scholarship aims to observe and assimilate which are the possible factors of the frequent consumption of these doramas based on the profile of the Latin American fans, specially the Chilean fans.
