Abstract

Introduction: There is a gap in the literature regarding the influence of gender in the incidence and intensity of specific symptoms of implementing smoking withdrawal syndrome that To analyze the influence of gender in the intensity of symptoms of withdrawal syndrome during the smoking cessation. Methods: The project was submitted for consideration by the ethics committee in research CAEE 44995515.0.0000.5402. An initial assessment to collect anthropometric data, history of illness, and addiction to nicotine level through Fargestrom test will be performed. Patients will be excluded with a history of anxiety and depression diagnosed previously and to make treatment for these conditions and individuals who did not use the pharmacological therapy of nicotine replacement and bupropion proposed by cessation treatment. A questionnaire that assesses symptoms of withdrawal syndrome will be used: craving for a cigarette, irritability, depression and anxiety, tension, restlessness, loss of concentration, stress, insomnia, headache and poor bowel function with scores 0-6, 0 being the absence of the symptom and 6 maximum intensity, it will be applied on the first day; seventh day; thirteenth day and twenty-ninth day of abstinence smoking days abstinence. These dates cessation treatment meetings are pre-set by a schedule prepared by the treatment team. The carbon monoxide concentration in exhaled air will also be measured through an exhaled CO analyzer for attesting the withdrawal of patients during the days of experiments. Statistical analysis: The normality of the data will be assessed by the Shapiro- Wilk test . Comparisons of moments between groups will be done by variance analysis technique in the two- factor model.
