Abstract

According to the critics Michael Löwy and Robert Sayre (1995), Romantism doesn't consist as a historical moment but as a "mental collective structure", a way of thinking the world which manifest not only on literature but also in several knowledge fields. The works of the poets Allen Ginsberg and Roberto Piva belong of a traditional romantic derivation that, in constantly contestation to the bourgeois order, tread the grounds of resistance by rebelling themselves against the values of their epoch. The objective of this present project is to investigate the permanence of the romantic spirit in two specifics poetic contexts, the Brazilian context in Paranóia (1963) and the American in Howl (1956), and, from the reflection about the permanence of romantic though on the different contexts of XX century, to identify peculiar features of poetry that come from a rebelliousness tradition of XIX century. Still pursuits to analyze the opener reasons of the ideals widespread by the poets and how they interrelate themselves, establishing a literary intercrossing among historical periods, but that relate themselves on the search of a personal and collective identity.
