Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) figures as a major comorbidities associated with HIV/AIDS, favoring the more severe clinical forms of the disease, lower cure rates and higher rates of treatment abandonment and death. In this sense, the TB/HIV co-infection becomes a major challenge for public health systems. The present study aims to identify and analyze the variables associated with the TB cases outcome in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Ribeirão Preto between the years 2010 to 2014. This is a cross-sectional study quantitative approach. The study population will consist of TB cases among PLWHA reported between 2010 to 2014 in Ribeirão Preto, excluding patients institutionalized in prisons, under 18 years old and transfer or change of diagnosis cases. The research will be conducted through the secondary data collected in information systems: TB/WEB, Information System for Notifiable Diseases (SINAN), Control System for Laboratory Tests (SISCEL), Logistics Management System of Medicines (SICLOM) and Information System Web-Hygia (implemented in municipality health services). Eventually records of consultation and/or interviews will be carried out with patients. As dependent variable, will be deemed outcome of TB cases, which shall be classified as cure, abandonment and death. The independent variables are classified into sociodemographic and clinical datas and the clinical and therapeutic follow-up information. Techniques of descriptive statistics (frequencies, measures of position and variability) will be used to characterize the sociodemographic and clinical profile of subjects and case outcomes identification. To investigate the association between indicators of TB treatment outcome cases with independent variables, will be used the Poisson regression to obtain prevalence ratios (PR) crude and adjusted. It is hoped that this study can assist in strengthening planning and control strategies and management of TB in HIV/AIDS, targeting the favorable outcome of healing among those infected, and reducing the number of TB cases in the general population and in groups vulnerable.
