This project aims to verify the ecology and population structure of white shrimp, scientifically known as Litopenaeus schmitti, on the south coast of the state of Sao Paulo, in the region of Cananeia. Samples were collected monthly from July 2012 to May 2014. A shrimp-fishing boat equipped with double-rig shrimp nets was used to collect biotic data in 7 sampling stations (reaching up to 20 meters deep) distributed from the estuary to the adjacent coastal region. Environmental parameters were analyzed simultaneously, such as the measurement of organic matter content and sediment grain size, temperature, salinity, and chlorophyll concentration in the water. In the laboratory, subjects were identified as for gender and were weighed, measured and classified according to the gonadal maturation stage. For all the parametric analyzes the premises which will be respected, for instance, are the normality and homoscedasticity. The relationship between the abundance and environmental factors will be tested with Multiple Linear Regression, but also plenty space-time will be compared with analysis of variance. The carapace length of individuals of each month will be compared between males and females through the Student-t test. It is expected to get new information on the species in question as the size to which reach sexual maturity and the period of youth recruitment, may serve as a guideline for future proposals for sustainable management.
