Compounds with antioxidant activity, such as carotenoids, amino acids, vitamins and phenolic compounds have been extensity studied due to its possible biological effects and benefits to human health. For this reason many researchers of pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries have studied plant species such as Spathodea campanulata. A wide variety of secondary metabolites is produced by superior plant, and these compounds are responsible for different functions of adaptation and survival to environment. Based on the phytochemical composition and a hypothesized medicinal effect of S.campanulata, the aim of this project is quantify phenolic compounds, carotenoids and vitamin E by HPLC-ECD presents on the nectar, flowers and leaves of S. campanulata. In addition, analysis of antioxidant capacity will be performed by antioxidant assays as ORAC, DPPH and FRAP.
