Abstract

Fetal growth restriction is defined as the fetus impossibility of reaching it's growth potential and is one of the clinical conditions associated with high perinatal morbidity and mortality. The short term and long term consequences of this condition are low birth weight, hypoxia hypoglycemia, hypothermia, pulmonary hemorrhage, hypocalcemia and prematurity. Among the risk factors for fetal growth restriction are maternal factors. This study's goal is to evaluate depressive symptoms, stress, self-esteem and social support presence among pregnant women with fetal growth restriction (case group) and pregnant women without clinical complications (control group). The study also aims to verify the association of depression, stress, self-esteem and social support rates among the case group and the control group. It's a descriptive, cross-sectional, exploratory and convenience sample study. The sample will be composed of 50 pregnant woman with fetal growth restriction diagnosis and 50 pregnant woman without clinical complications that will be waiting for a doctor's appointment in the Obstetrics Clinics of the HCFMUSP. Will be excluded pregnant woman that are less than 18 years old, with fetal death diagnosis and fetal malformation. To reach the proposed goals will be performed a semi-structured interview; the PRIME_MD and the Prenatal Psychosocial Profile (PPP). The data will be analyzed using the program SPSS for windows 16.0 version. The value 0.05 (alfa=5%) will be adopted as significance level, thus descriptive levels (p) below that value will be considered significant (p0,05). (AU)
