This research relates to the surface treatment and processing of thermoplastic composites (PPS/CF) for aerospace applications. After the production of the thermoplastic composites with the use of a press with controlled cooling, a silicon deposition on its surface using a chemical vapor deposition system assisted plasma phase (PECVD) is performed. After this stage, there will be a plasma treatment on the surface of the deposited silicon. The treatment to be used is ion implantation by plasma immersion (3IP), which is performed in subatmospheric pressure, involving high energy and may create silicon nitride. After the treatment is performed characterization of the treated samples and untreated. For that will be used several characterization techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy; X-ray diffraction; scratching analysis and dynamic mechanical analysis.
