Abstract

This project describes a collaborative research proposal in connection to the Post-Doctoral Research Project "Advanced Power Systems Real-Time Modeling with PMU", FAPESP grant no. 2013/24559-7, and comprises an internship of one year at the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering - Northeastern University, under the supervision of Professor Ali Abur. The project's main objective is to explore the Power System State Estimation and the External Network Modeling in a Multiarea and Generalized State Estimation context. The efficient representation of external networks for a better situational awareness has become a matter of utmost interest in modern power grids. These topics have been extensively investigated along the candidate's main PD project. Recent advances published by the research group at EESC-USP and the expertise of Professor Abur in the State Estimation area represent a strategic collaboration. The research will benefit with contributions of Professor Abur to State Estimation, Phasor Measurements and External Network Modeling, and intends to improve the research in the State Estimation Area and also to strengthen the cooperation between the São Carlos School of Engineering - University of São Paulo and the Northeastern University.
