Abstract

Power is one of the most complex concepts within the study of international relations. The current technological changes and the emergence of cyberspace increased the complexity and intangibility of power. We measure in the work of Joseph S. Nye Jr his attention to the influences that the information revolution process applies to international actors and how the emergence of a cyberpower extends the three-dimensional chess game of international politics. Therefore, we propose to conduct a conceptual mapping within the work of this important author in order to assist the discussion of the key concepts that will culminate in the perception of a new phenomenon in international relations: the diffusion of power. In this context, the changes created from the cheapening of information technologies contribute to the input in the cyber context of different levels of actors (public, private and third sector). The modern states have a challenge ahead: be able to manage their sources of soft and hard power in a new space, while some of his assignments are transferred to new sectors.
