Abstract

The stress manifests itself as a reaction of the organism in situations that are very difficult and / or exciting. The degree of stress of an individual is associated with the number of changes it undergoes in a given period of time. The birth of a premature baby makes the family go to confront an unpredictable and anxiogenic situation that generates a feeling of helplessness and stress. Prematurity has been considered a biological risk factor for child development, however, the triggering of problems in children may be attenuated if the family is a protective factor for their development. This study aims to describe and compare the stress of mothers of term babies and premature babies. Participate in 30 mothers of term babies and 30 mothers of premature babies, between four and five months old. To avaliate parental stress will be used the Parental Stress Index (PSI) and an initial interview will be used to collect demographic information of the babies and their family. The t-test of Student will be used to compare the groups and the data of the initial interview will be used to characterize the sample.
