Abstract This is a multicenter pilot study in children and adolescents aged 3-17. The project will take place in São Paulo and six other South American cities: Teresina (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Santiago (Chile), Montevideo (Uruguay), Lima (Peru) and Medellin (Colombia). The evaluator training, instruments and study design will be standardized. Objectives: (i) To develop valid and innovative methods to assess the different dimensions of energy balance-related behaviors': food intake, food preferences and choices, physical activity, sedentary behavior and sleep in the South American pediatrics population (aged 3-17) by validation statistical methods; (ii) examine whether disagreement between the objectively measurement and subjective methods varied by socio-demographic factors. Descriptive statistics, such as the mean, standard deviation, percentage and 95% confidence interval, will be used. The concordance between the obtained measurements will be calculated using the kappa coefficients for categorical variables and intraclass correlation coefficients for quantitative variables by the Spearman and Pearson correlation coefficients for parametric and nonparametric variables, respectively. This last analysis will be complemented by the development of Bland-Altman graphs. For the disagreement analyses we will develop a conceptual framework using the multilevel regression to investigate how disagreement varied by socio-demographic factors. We will use the socio-demographic variables as predictors for disagreement between the two methods and modelled against disagreement for objectively and subjectively methods. (AU) | |
