Osteoporosis is a disease less studied in male patients, otherwise, this pathology is found in one each eight men in the population and this number has expectations to increase. Different from osteoporosis in women, in men, this pathology is caused because of a reduction in the bone neoformation. Considering this, treatments with bisphosphonates, in order to decrease the bone loss may not be enough to treat this disease and among the available options, teriparatide consists on the only anabolic agent that is approved to this treatment. Therefore, the aim of the present project is to evaluate the influence of teriparatide in the alveolar bone repair process in rats with induced osteoporosis (orchiectomy). 72 male rats will be divided in 3 groups as described in the sequence 24 orchiectomized rats, treated with teriparatide, 24 orchiectomized rats with no treatment and 24 sham rats. These animals will be divided in 16 animals for each experimental group that will be submitted to histometrical and immunohistochemical analysis. The proteins that will be evaluated will be trap, osteocalcin, Wnt and alkaline phosphatase, with periods of euthanasia in 14 and 42 days after the tooth extraction. For the tridimensional microtomographyic analysis (micro CT), it will be used 8 animals for each experimental group, with euthanasia at 42 days after the tooth extraction. The quantitative data will be submitted to the normality test and it will indicate a more adequate statistical test (parametric or non parametric), it will be adopted the significance level of 5%.
