Abstract

The project continues the thematic project Observatory of Migration in São Paulo (Population Studies Center - UNICAMP), supported by FAPESP (process number 2009/06502-2) from 2009 to 2013. In this second phase of the study (2014 to 2018 ), the Observatory of Migration in São Paulo subject-matter emerges from the need to deepen the theoretical, methodological and empirical knowledge regarding the settings and the specificities which internal and international migration processes assume in different spaces of São Paulo's territory, considering the 'age of mobility'. The main objective of this project is to understand and analyze the changes in national and international migration processes to, from and within São Paulo State based on diversified migratory modalities. In an inter-institutional and interdisciplinary perspective, the project incorporates researchers from various academic backgrounds that dialogue with the migration phenomenon. From the institutional and academic perspectives, it integrates researchers from different higher education and research institutions of São Paulo State (UNICAMP-NEPO/CEPAGRI/IFCH/FCA, UFABC, Carlos Chagas Foundation, Coffee Museum and Immigration Museum). In this thematic project, there are research lines that are interconnected for the study of migration: Spatial Mobility of Population; Demography of Ethnicities; Population and Health; Population and Environment, Spatial Analysis. Whether for the organization or the integration and analysis of the generated data, it is essential to systematize georeferenced bases and spatial analysis completion. In their activities, applicants will interact with all members of the project during activities to be held in NEPO's facilities (Unicamp-Campinas), CEPAGRI (Unicamp-Campinas) and in the Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, CHS (Unicamp-Limeira).
