Abstract

The main purpose is to recognize the work of three contemporary French artists referred, implicitly and explicitly, in the latest and most compelling theory of photographic sublime, such as formulated by Roland Barthes through the concept of "punctum". They are Lucien Clergue (1934-2014), Daniel Boudinet (1945-1990) and Bernard Faucon (1950), important names in the scene of the nineteenth-century French art that are for now off the horizon investigations of the author's specialists. This is to show that in addition to the corpus considered in the Camara lucida the "punctum" can be found anchored in an unsuspected corpus involving these three photographic developers. By appropriate, it aims still provide subsidies for a critical reading of the work of Sebastião Salgado, whom Barthes did not know but whose reportage photographs, hypothetically, would have been placed by him on account of the "myth".
