Abstract

This project aims to investigate the relationship between urban space, sociability and sensitivities, marked by a sense of (in)adequacy to urban space in contemporary times. The theme was proposed in analyzes based of two argentine films, El hombre de al lado, Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat (2009), and Medianeras, Gustavo Taretto (2011), both of them show the difficulties of individuals to relate, and also discuss the gap between inhabitants and the urban environment from the construction of windows in the medianeras - considered in the narratives as illegal practices in the city. The central hypothesis is that the artistic languages, in this case, the films, are placed critically about technical languages from the "symptom" of the misadaptation of the individual hypermodern to the modernist projects, discussing them as effective solutions to issues of urban life. The work, grosso modo, addresses two sets of sources: the technical writings of planners and architects related to construction of buildings from the 1920s, as well the legislation to Medianeras or "blind walls" (windowless façade) in Argentina; and the movies, discussing comparatively the approach of the theme in both films, paying attention to the sensitivities of the characters in contact with architecture.
