Abstract Patellofemoral pain has been affecting athletes and the general population causing anterior and retropatellar pain which is exacerbated during functional activities, such as stair ascent and descent, remain seated for a long period and squatting. Despite its high incidence and the affections generated, its etiology remains unclear. The study of Ground Reaction Forces and Center of Pressure during star ascent is scant in patellofemoral pain area, however, identifying and providing knowledge about these alterations might help in the understanding of this disorder. Furthermore, studies have been advocating that due to pain the body motor control may be altered. Yet, this disorder presents specific characteristics, which needs the elaboration of a protocol able to exacerbate in a standardized its symptoms. Thereby, it will be possible to develop researches aiming to evaluate if the pain can influence kinetic parameters. In this context, this project aims to analyze whether the presence of pain can alter the kinetic parameters of individuals with patellofemoral pain in a functional test as stair ascent after a pain exacerbation protocol. Our hypothesis is that after the protocol the individuals with patellofemoral pain will present altered kinetic data comparing to control group and patellofemoral pain group without been submitted to a pain exacerbation protocol.
