Introduction: the treatment of patients with advanced cancers may be associated with physical and emotional uncomfortable symptoms, social and existential problems, and the need for adjustments in the life of affected patients. Thus, it becomes importantly to objectively evaluate the satisfaction of these patients in relation to the care provided, and contribute to improving the quality of multidisciplinary care provided to them. Objectives: this research project aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the FAMCARE-patient scale in outpatients with advanced cancer, and to measure the satisfaction of these patients in relation to the care provided in various outpatient clinics of the Barretos Cancer Hospital. Materials and Methods: this is a descriptive, cross-sectional and methodological study conducted with patients aware of the diagnosis of an advanced cancer and with more than 18 years old. In the pre-testing, the FAMCARE-patient scale will be applied to 12 patients. In order to measure the psychometric properties of FAMCARE-patient scale, the Satisfação dos Pacientes com os Serviços de Saúde Mental (SATIS-BR) e CARDIOSATIS-usuário will be applied to 148 patients; 42 of them will answer again the FAMCARE-patient scale for the retest analysis after 5 to 15 days. The internal consistency, test-retest reliability, known-group validity and the convergent validity of FAMCARE-patient scale will be measured for use in ambulatory patients with advanced cancers.
