Abstract

The objective of this study is the development of materials with the possibility of use as a hemostatic agent . To achieve this goal will be prepared and characterized neutral sponges of collagen obtained by alkaline hydrolysis, cross-linked or not with grape seed extract, which has as its main component proanthocyanidin .Serous porcine will be used as the source of collagen. The materials will be analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetry, scanning electron microscopy, in vitro biological stability (collagenase) , cytotoxicity and kinetics of absorption of water and phosphate buffered saline ( PBS). After obtaining and characterization the sponges will be part of a project in collaboration with the Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto / USP, for more specific testing applications as a hemostatic agent.
