Abstract

In this research we intend to investigate some aspects of Brazilian cultural production in the six first years of 2000s, with the thesis that, in this period, substantive changes in classically defined cultural industry can be appreciated. Among them, a central issue is the "concept of cultural industry" itself as it relates to the development of new technologies of information, communication and sociability, all linked to growth of internet. As a consequence, one can see problems regarding the contextualization of new relations between production and consumption, whose historical evidences can be found, in this context, in Brazilian cinematographic and televised production at the time. Our goal, accordingly, is to draw sociological reflections and analyses of the history of Brazilian cultural industry concerning that particular historical moment, which to a great extent remains uninvestigated. An important part of the research shall be derived from contact, dialogue and learning from international researchers who work with similar sociological problems, especially those focused on the experiences of the Global South.
