Abstract

Cutaneous lesions in sheep usually heal by secondary intention. Wound healing is a physiological process that begins with the loss of skin integrity. The amniotic membrane (AM) is one of the alternatives of regenerative medicine used to repair lesions. The present study aims to evaluate and compare, macroscopically and thermographic ally, the healing of experimental wounds in sheep thoracic and pelvic limbs, treated or not with MA. It will be used 12 animals divided in two groups. Six animals will be injured in the thoracic limbs and the other six members will be injured in the pelvic member. Among the six animals, three will receive treatment with AM on the right limbs and the other three on the left limbs, with the contralateral limb being used as control as will only receive treatment with saline solution. The same scheme will be used for pelvic limbs. The macroscopic evaluation will be performed on the day of surgery and every other day at the change of bandages, until complete healing. The measurement of the wound area and the thermographic evaluations will be conducted on the same days of the wounds macroscopic evaluation.
