The formation of the holding Brazilian Traction in 1912, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, brought together under the same administration the two foreign companies greater financial sucess in Brazil at that time, the São Paulo Tramway, Light and Power Company and the Rio de Janeiro Tramway, Light and Power Company. Besides these two, well-known, it would be managed by holding a third, founded in 1911 based in Canada, also to operate in Brazil, new and little known, the São Paulo Electric Co. Almost concurrently with the creation of the holding company, São Paulo Electric Co. will build and manage (1912-1914) the Itupararanga plant in Sorocaba city, ensuring important public services concessions in several towns, as well as, supplementing the supply of electricity from São Paulo Light and Power to capital.
