Abstract

The neutrinos study proves to be very important in the elementary particles physics scenery, because is the most rich source about a large number of open questions in the electroweak sector, as the generation and hierarchy of mass, CP violation and standard model extension mechanisms. So, directed to the Brazilian research about neutrinos, we have the Angra neutrino project (Neutrinos-Angra), it will work in the detection of antineutrinos generated by the Angra II reactor to monitor its operation, in order to improve the power plant security and efficiency. Unfortunately, there are particles which may generate interference in the neutrino detection, muons are the main problem in this type of detection, due to its high penetrating power. To solve this problem, it is proposed a muon detector in order to create a veto system for these particles. This project of scientific initiation aims the characterization of the multianode photomultipliers which will be used in the muons veto system for the Angra project of neutrino. This process is necessary to know the characteristics of the equipment, which is essential for the operation of a detector.
