Abstract

Knowledge of production systems involving cover crops for the cultivation of upland rice, soybean and maize intercropped with Brachiaria in second crop is of paramount importance for agricultural sustainability. The objective is to evaluate production systems using cover crops in upland rice, soybean and second crop corn intercropping with Brachiaria in the Cerrado region. The project consists of three subprojects. Activity 1: Production systems for upland rice with the use of cover crops. Activity 2: Production systems for soybean with the use of cover crops. Activity 3: Production systems for second crop corn intercropping with Brachiaria ruziziensis under rice residues and soybeans, due to cover crops. The experimental design for rice and soy is a randomized block design with six treatments and four replications. The design for corn, is a randomized complete block design with factorial 6x2, with four replications. The study is being conducted in Selvíria - MS, in the Cerrado region. Reviews in cover crops: dry matter; concentrations of N, P and K cumulative total of the plants; decomposition of dry matter and nutrient release; determination of organic carbon. Reviews in rice: ammonium and nitrate concentration in the soil, at 20 DAE and in full bloom; chlorophyll index at 20 DAE and in full bloom; total content of leaf N; dry weight of plants; plant height; degree of lodging; number of panicles per square meter; total number of grains per panicle; granados number of grains per panicle and voids; weight of 100 grains; grain yield. Reviews in soybeans: initial and final plant; plant height; height of first pod; number of pods per plant; the 1000 seeds; grain yield. Reviews in rice and soybean residues dry matter; concentrations of N, P and K cumulative total of the plants; decomposition and nutrient release; Organic C. Reviews in corn: initial and final plant; dry matter production of shoots; leaf nitrogen; chlorophyll content; plant height; number of row of grains per spike; number of kernels per row; thousand grain weight; productivity. Reviews in common: soil chemical properties; bulk density, total porosity, microporosity and macroporosity. (AU)
